He started
as a banking market analyst in the city of London before rising to the
position of Partner with one of the world’s pre-eminent professional
services firms at the age of only 31 (Cap Gemin Ernst & Young). After living
and working in financial capitals around the world including London, Sydney, New York, Paris and Hong Kong, Ciaran joined the National
Australia Bank, ultimately becoming Chief Executive Officer for their North and South American commercial and retail banking business.
His love of the human spirit, ability to see life
from a higher perspective, and resilient nature, never acquiescing to
life’s pattern of constant change and challenge, has earned Ciaran a
trust in himself, reflected back by his successes. His extensive travels
have shown him the wide-birth of the world, from the slums of Mumbai
to the cities of Marrakesh and Moscow. He has rafted the Zambezi River,
snow-mobiled the glaciers of Iceland and scuba-dived the Greet Reef Barrier,
eventually developing a deep reverence for high-altitude mountaineering,
climbing the highest peaks on five continents.
Having scaled the heights of both the professional
services and banking industries, his passionate personality has called
him again to new ventures. He now lives in LA, manages his own portfolio
of business investments (ranging from the agricultural sector in Australia
to independent movie production in the US to the energy drinks business
in China), and is highly sought after as an independent advisor to banks
and private equity.
Ciaran brings an unconventional perspective to the
business world and an understanding of the importance of soul and passion
in achieving career success. His forthcoming book “The Discipline of
Freedom” recounts the experiences of his unpredictable, adventurous and
successful corporate career, offers thoughtful, provocative discourse
about the needing-to-be-reformed mentality of many a company workplace,
and makes an important contribution to improving the corporate life of
individuals and the life of the organisations they work for.
